Some places keep drawing us back, and we enjoy sharing them with guests at Casa Aram. This is Ada’s personal selection of places to explore, eat well and enjoy La Palma at a relaxed pace.
You will find walks, nature, weekend markets, simple restaurants and an option for a special occasion. These suggestions reflect our own tastes: choose what appeals to you and leave time to enjoy each stop.
Roque de los Muchachos, Los Tilos and the Caldera
Roque de los Muchachos is one of my favourite places. The road is winding, but the views are worth it. Allow plenty of time and check the weather before driving up.
Los Tilos is another recommendation for anyone who enjoys walking and forests. Choose a route that suits your group and check which access roads and trails are open.
Caldera de Taburiente also deserves a place in your plans. You can ask at the visitor centre for information to help choose a suitable visit or walk.

Get directionsTazacorte, Teneguía and a stroll through the capital
Tazacorte beach is one of my choices for a coastal day out from Casa Aram. The area often enjoys pleasant weather, and boat trips leave the port to explore the coast and watch cetaceans. Sightings depend on conditions and the animals.
In the south, I recommend the volcanic scenery of Fuencaliente and the Teneguía volcano. Check the walking routes and access conditions before planning your visit.
Santa Cruz de La Palma, the island’s capital, is also worth visiting for an unhurried stroll. You could combine that day with a meal in the area.

Get directionsPuntagorda farmers’ market and Argual flea market
I really like Puntagorda farmers’ market for its authentic local atmosphere. According to the council’s published timetable, it opens on Saturdays from 15:00 to 19:00 and Sundays from 11:00 to 15:00.
I suggest arriving near opening time, as it gets busy. It is a lovely way to discover local produce and everyday village life.
Argual flea market in Los Llanos de Aridane is also a good place to browse and wander. It takes place on Sundays from 9:00 to 14:00 in Plaza de Sotomayor.

In Puerto de Tazacorte, I like Restaurante Teneguía facing the beach. It is one of my suggestions for good food at what I consider a reasonable price.
In Tazacorte village, Hotel Hacienda de Abajo is a beautiful hotel with a restaurant. I recommend it for a meal or a drink in special surroundings; it is a more expensive option. Check availability for visitors who are not staying at the hotel.
In Tijarafe village, Pizzería La Fuente offers good value in my experience. You can also order takeaway: allow roughly 20–30 minutes as a guide, and confirm the waiting time when ordering.
Cervecería Isla Verde is another nearby option for a meal, around 10 minutes from the house by car. I like it as an informal place with reasonable prices.
If you are exploring Garafía, consider Camu Camu in Las Tricias. It is not among my favourites and, for my taste, the value for money is average, but it can be an option for a stop in that area.

Get directionsChipi-Chipi: grilled chicken and an early start
Chipi-Chipi is very well known on the island and often gets busy. I sometimes go at 12:30 to try to avoid the queue. Grilled chicken is one of the typical dishes I recommend.
The restaurant publishes opening hours of Monday to Saturday, 12:30–23:00, and Sunday, 12:30–17:30. Confirm the day’s hours before travelling.

Get directionsOne last tip from Ada
- Avoid fitting everything into one day. Group visits by area and enjoy the island at your own pace.
- For Puntagorda market and popular restaurants, arriving around opening time can help reduce waiting.
- Confirm opening hours, reservations and access before setting out. The La Palma guide on this website has an interactive map and more information for planning each visit.
